:: mind bottling ::

I don't know how it happens, but I seem to have finished objects arriving in couples.

I should say this one was a jacket from hell! Why? They say not to worry about gauge.. and I swear if I made it all to their instructions I would have ended up with a coat, not a jacket! So gauge is the mother, rock solid base of any garment!
The rest was done just following the necessary measurements, not the instructions.

Pattern: Habu Kit 19 (Used Cashmere instead of Tsumugi Silk) by Setsuko Torii
Size: M/approx. 36" bust
Time to make: 8 days (involving ripping it off twice)
Materials: 3oz. of Linen Paper (Shosenshi) and 2-3 oz of cashmere (recycled from a sweater aquired at Goodwill last summer) and 6 Vintage Metal Ball Buttons
Needles: US 7 (4.5mm) Addi Turbo 32" circular needles.
I loved working with this yarn, it's unique, it may be a little rough while working, but after a nice SOAK bath, it relaxed and cashmere all fluffed out and created a slight halo over the jacket, which made it nice to wear and still very lightweight with the linen paper. I don't think I should sing another ode to Habu and their genuine designer fibers!

And this one is my own design, inspired from another famous designer's sketch about a year ago.
Here is my version and interpretation of it : Grecian Top

Grecian Top

Pattern: My Own (worked top down in a round)
Size: 34" bust
Time to make: About 1 and a half weeks
Materials: 4,5 skeins of Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy In Turquoise
Needles: US 3 (3.25mm) Addi Turbo Circulars
All cables are knitted on as border and cabling is performed as you go (tutorial coming soon!)

Hempathy is a funny yarn to work with, it has two sides: bad and good, bad is that it's pretty rough on fingers and really dries them out when you knit, but the good one is that this yarn is really really drapey, I love the texture and the feel, I bet it will wear very well, the amazing blend of fibers, one of it is modal(reconstituted beech wood) and that fiber absorbs 50% more moisture than cotton! So knowing what a humid summer is ahead of me here, I have already ordered a color card for it and plan to ripple some Missoni style tee.

They are both lovely. I love the metal buttons for the Habu jacket and the neckline and border of the Grecian Top. Can't believe you knit so quickly!

The Habu jacket definitely looks better with your measurements. I love the structure. The grecian top also looks lovely. I can't wait to see what you do with the Missoni style top.

Both of these are so nice, but I just love that jacket. That is a really cool cut. You made that with a total of 6oz of yarn? Wow. I guess I've never "gotten" Habu yarns, but you obviously do. Looks great.

That knitted-tee is gorgeous! It's very simple, yet elegant looking... which I love! The cable border really gives that tee some kick!

The Habu sweater is really amazing. Though I am definitely a card carrying member of the I love Habu fan club. I also love the blue sweater. The cables turned out really smart.
